US President Barack Obama is considering a push for new UN
sanctions on Zimbabwe in an attempt to topple Robert Mugabe.
Mr Obama and his senior Africa aides have discussed taking the
issue of Zimbabwe to the UN Security Council and starting an
intense diplomatic effort to persuade Russia and China to get
on board, according to reports.
No ! There are plenty other rogue/failed states:
Burma, Somalia, N. Korea ....Darfur, where Russia and China
also promote 'non interference'.

Besides Zimbabawe is collapsing, no matter what.
Whereas Burma & N. Korea could just continue like Cuba
for decades.

Unless perhaps US particularly wants to avoid the catastrophic
demonstration of 'competent white rule, replaced by black rule'
to be clearly shown; with the implications for neighbouring
South Africa, why put special emphasis on Zimbabwe ?
--------------------

The same way, as a promenent spokes-person's [eg. Allen
Greenspan or whoever] utterances, 2 years back:
"THE CURRENT HOUSE PRICE ESCALATION IS ABSURDLY UNSUSTAINABLE,
AND MANY FOOLS ARE GOING TO GET BURNT...",
could have avoided the present world economic crisis;
so also an unambigious statement to the southern-african
leadership: "WE NOTE THAT YOUR SUPORT FOR MUGABE, AND ABSURD
PROMOTION OF POWER-SHARING, ATTEMPT TO HIDE THE REALITY,
CONFIRMS YOUR APPROVAL OF UNCOMPENSATED LOOTING OF NON
NATIVES LEGALLY BOUGHT PROPERTY........";
might avoid greater problems from building up in the future.

We need more, not less:
"Either you're with us or you're against us"
unambigious type statements.

PeeCee 'walking on eggs' won't solve the increasing problems
that the world faces from over population.

Now there's an exercise in futility.

What could new sanctions do that could possibly do any more damage than
Mugabe has already done, without any outside intervention at all?

Surely the need is to save what's left, rather than kill it off?
