I'm told about the SABC2 TV program: 'speak out' which
exposed the unjust manipulation and confiscation/looting
of the houses/properties of poor illiterate citizens, by
municipal council/s.

The place was said to be something-vaal. Apparently it
took several years to 'beat the crooks'. I'd like to find the
name of the case/s. So I googled around but found
nothing yet.

Can someone who saw the TV program or knows about
the case/s suggest some 'google-search-words'

== TIA.

OK. I followed that one, from several years ago.
They just let it settle down and do the same thing again.
Some one was telling that new-SA has 'lawfare' because people
falsely believe that the law will protect them, since the few cases
which DO are widely published. More realistic solutions are a
Kebble job, or better just move to a civilised society.

Subject: We oldies get screwed by fraudsters

How does pay-pal work?

Many years ago I abandoned having a credit card.
But still I am not protected against abuse by banks.
I had a 12 month [I think] fixed deposit with Nedbank, and when it matured
in October 2010, [I think ] they sent a notification.
I was not able to go in until about December, when I brought written
instructions for them [Nedbank] to close my account anf give me US$ for
the amount. The Rand was then about 6/US.

The 'Boykie/consultant' said they couldn't give me my money.
I think he said <since I had not responded to their notification
letter>. So I said "That's OK, just sign and date stamp, my copy of the
<demand-notice> and we'll handle it in writing".

His first email refered to some <penalty>.
And when I replied, by email challenging that, they wrote that they
wouldn't be charging any penalty. But they don't want to put anything
in writing, without me DEMANDING it. Meanwhile the rand moved
unfavourably against the dollar......................

There seems no law against them looting you, by effectively controlling
your actions via "making it costly/inconvenient for you to transact".

You might know that a US president controlled the national banking
without any acompanying law/statute, by merely declaring a banking
holidy. I.e. delaying tactics may not be illegal, but may be used
to defeat the opponent.

Of course you'd know: especially in the chaos of new-SA, we older people
just get screwed.

My ex told me about SABC2's "speakout" which exposed <corrupt councils which
had looted poor peoples houses/properties>. I want to get the name of the
reporters who exposed the case/s, but with the general chaos in new-SA,
google failed to find me a lead.

Here's my google search template, before getting paypal facilities:
"justanswer.com/legal"+scam

They are US based, and they gave good samples of legal questions which
were asked, and were WELL answered by freelancing SA attorney/S,
for good prices.

Of course such samples and <letters of paraise by satisfied clients>
can be pure fiction. And one possible way to minimise potential loss
by scammers is to start-small and pay incrementally, rather than have
ONE transaction, where you have to pay all in advance.

Can I do that with paypal?
I don't think the ebay bussines-model would work in SA.
Perhaps it's because of the strong Federal laws re. mail fraud that
it works in the US. What do you think?

I'll phone soon.
=====================
Social media, has given power to some of the oppressed, in
some places. So I though I could google to find out if
googling to find potential warning posted that
justanswer.com/legal is a scam. But of course the google
replies are SWAMPED by justanswer.com's own self-praises.
